Cystoscopy under IV sedation

 

This procedure allows the physician to examine the urethra (the tube that transports urine from the bladder) and the lining of the bladder. This is done under intravenous sedation. A thin tube with a light and camera mounted on the end—a cystoscope—is inserted into the urethra. The images captured by the camera as it travels up the urethra towards the bladder aid in the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of illnesses relating to the urethra and bladder.
